French Polynesian arts and crafts on sale in the sheltered pavilion
A covered open-air pavilion has opened on the wharf of Papetoai, the tender port for cruise ships on the Tahitian island of Moorea.

Stallholders sell a variety of local arts and crafts when cruise ships visit this picturesque bay, with its mountain backdrop and crystal clear water.

It is also the base for shore excursions and local transport operators.

Work began in 2015 and the opening has coincided with the first anniversary of the inaugural South Pacific Cruise Forum, held in Papeete last October.

It was partly financed by Fonds de Developpement de la Croisiere, the Cruise Development Fund, which raises money from fees for cruise ship calls and passenger head counts.
