German opera star Anna Maria Kaufmann, the godmother, performed Johann Sebastian Bach's 'Air' to usher in Crystal Bach, the first newbuild of Crystal River Cruises. Festivities took place Sunday in Rüdesheim, Germany.

Crystal ceo and president Edie Rodriguez presided over the ceremony, along with emcee and popular longtime Crystal entertainer Mark Farris.

Also on hand were Crystal Bach passengers, local travel partners, Genting Hong Kong chairman and ceo Tan Sri Lim Kok Thay and Genting HK group president Colin Au.

The event followed the christening and debut of Crystal Skye, Crystal’s fully customized Boeing 777, last week in Las Vegas.

'Crystal remains committed to being the standard bearer for what is possible in luxury travel, just as they have since they first embarked more than 27 years ago,' Lim said. 'We are proud to be part of and support this vision, and look forward to continuing on this journey together.'

Crystal livestreamed the ceremony on its Facebook page, where a replay is available.

Crystal Bach is the first of four all-balcony-suite Rhine-class newbuilds.
