'Velvet,' a critically acclaimed burlesque, circus, disco theatre show will be performed on board for passenger entertainment.
Lunch in Le Bistro
Velvet’s creator and producer, Peter Rix, was guest of honour at a lunch that followed in Le Bistro French Restaurant. Rix, who is known as ‘the Godfather of the Australian music scene,’ founded the annual ARIA (Australian Recording Industry Association) Music Awards in 1986.
Another special luncheon guest was Australian producer Harley Medcalf, whose live dance show, ‘Burn the Floor,’ which has been performed around the world, is now playing on four Norwegian Cruise Line ships.
Odell: Guests will be ‘blown away’
Steve Odell, svp & md Asia Pacific, said guests will be blown away by 'Velvet,' which is making its debut at sea.
‘The show presents glittering singers, dancers, acrobats and burlesque performers on Norwegian Jewel’s expansive stage, newly fitted with the latest lights and sounds,’ Odell said.
‘We believe in the talent in Australia and our entertainment is very different from anywhere else.’
Makeover showcased
Nicole Costantin, vp sales Norwegian Cruise Line, and her team took the opportunity to showcase the bow-to-stern renovation of Norwegian Jewel prior to her second season Down Under.
Costantin said the ship’s fourth 2020/21 extended season in Australasia, which went on sale last month, is going to be another sell-out with a mix of Australian, American, European and Chinese passengers.
