The ship has been designed in 3-D and is going to be revealed 'life size, in 3-D'—that has never been done before, he said—at Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.'s Innovation Lab at PortMiami on March 13.
Berkus will take the wraps off Celebrity's first new ship class in nearly a decade alongside Celebrity president and ceo Lisa Lutoff-Perlo and Richard Fain, chairman and ceo, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd.
'I promise you've never seen anything like this, on a cruise ship or, actually, anywhere,' Berkus said.
'Celebrity and I love the same things: great design, modern luxury and traveling the world for inspiration,' the designer added. He's seen 'every single detail' of Celebrity Edge, and deems it 'phenomenal.'
The 117,000gt Edge newbuilds are under construction at STX France, with Celebrity Edge scheduled for delivery in 2018, Celebrity Beyond in 2020 and sister ships in 2021 and 2022.
