Thatcher Brown - 'Japan a top destination request'
Dream Cruises' Genting Dream will operate five-night cruises to Japan and two-night weekend cruises to Hong Kong in summer 2017.

From April 2 to Sept. 29, the ship will sail from Guangzhou (Nansha), China, for calls at Naha and Miyakojima in Okinawa. Departing on Sunday, Genting Dream will return on Friday.

The weekend Hong Kong cruises sail Friday and return on Sunday.

'We are delighted to introduce Genting Dream’s first summer schedule featuring Japan, which continues to grow rapidly in popularity as a cruise destination,' said Thatcher Brown, president, Dream Cruises. 'We listened to our travel partners and our prospective guests; Japan was a top destination request with its distinctive natural environments, cultural offerings and reputation for quality cruise excursion products.'

The new Genting Dream can carry 3,400 passengers in 1,674 staterooms, served by 2,000 crew. More than 70% of accommodations have balconies, and over 100 connecting rooms cater to extended families and groups. The 'Dream Mansion' ship-within-a-ship offers two decks of suites with European-style butler service and exclusive amenities.

Thirty-five restaurants and bars include Chinese regional, Asian and international cuisines, afternoon tea at Palm Court, healthy eating at Crystal Life Cruisine and Japanese classics at Umi Uma. The fine dining Chinese restaurant Silk turns into a cabaret with a burlesque show late in the evening.

Genting Dream also will offer the first Johnnie Walker House at Sea, giving the opportunity to taste and purchase luxury Scotch whisky including some of the rarest variants and single malts that are not available elsewhere. Whisky and food-pairing menus also will be offered on board.

As for entertainment, ‘China’s Got Talent’ is a 45-minute theatrical representation of the hit television series, while parties from Singapore's Zouk nightspot with world-class DJs will come to sea.

Further amenities include a large Asian reflexology spa, duty-free retail and recreational choices such as a water park with six slides, a rock-climbing wall, a ropes course and two submersibles.
