Los Lobos Cantina - a new concept for Norwegian
The 2002-built Norwegian Dawn emerged from a month-long drydock with a new dining concept, a Mexican cantina, plus O'Sheehan's Bar & Grill, new lounges, updated design and décor in all public spaces and refurbished staterooms. The ship will spend summer sailing from Boston to Bermuda.

Norwegian president and chief operating officer Andy Stuart said this went beyond a typical docking, with Norwegian Dawn 'brought down to the steel in many spaces and rebuilt to evoke the look and feel of the newest Norwegian ships.'

New for the Norwegian fleet, Los Lobos Cantina is an upscale Mexican restaurant that offers guacamole prepared tableside, al pastor tacos, enchiladas de mole and hand crafted margaritas, all available à la carte. The venue will open July 1.

O’Sheehan’s Bar & Grill debuted, with signature sports bar décor, pub fare and beers on tap.

Norwegian Dawn also added The Cellars, a Michael Mondavi Family Wine Bar, in a transformation of the former Pearly King Pub. The new Sugarcane Mojito Bar will serve more than 15 varieties of mojitos in a modern lounge area on Deck 13 adjacent to the new location for Moderno Churrascaria.

And Spinnaker Lounge was transformed into Bliss Lounge, offering a larger space for relaxing over cocktails, with refinished bar fronts, new contemporary accents, furniture and carpeting.

The complimentary dining venues Venetian and Aqua gained a new look, with enhancements including new wall coverings, carpet and hardwood flooring, entry signage, artwork, ceiling finishes, reupholstered furniture, lighting and window treatments. Bamboo Asian Restaurant was fully refurbished with fresh carpet and hardwood flooring, new tables, barstools and chairs, updated artwork throughout, new decorative and architectural lighting, along with window treatments and wall finishes.

The Garden Café was redesigned with new layout for smoother service. It also has upgraded flooring, artwork, decorative lighting, wall finishes, signage and furniture.

The specialty restaurants Le Bistro and La Cucina exchanged locations, with each space presenting a premium dining experience with new décor including updated carpet, furniture, lighting and signage. In its new Deck 13 location beside Sugarcane Mojito Bar, Moderno Churrascaria features all new décor, furniture, window treatments, wall coverings and artwork that evokes the restaurant’s Brazilian theme.

Teppanyaki restaurant was completely renovated and doubled in size with two additional tables, new flooring and décor and the addition of a divider between Bamboo and Teppanyaki for a more private experience. Cagney’s Steakhouse showcases a modern look with new décor, furniture, updated artwork, new carpet, wall finishes, decorative lighting and modified, more open layout.

Existing bars and lounges also offer a fresh experience, with Gatsby’s Champagne Bar debuting new furniture, flooring, decorative lighting, artwork, window treatments and an Art Deco-inspired chandelier. The Cigar Bar has new tile flooring, draperies, furniture and an expanded humidor.

Every stateroom received new carpets, bedding, drapery, artwork, flat-screen televisions and furniture. The two spacious Garden Villas were made over to have a cleaner, modern look with new flooring and furniture inside and out, new ceilings, lighting, bedding, décor and 42-inch flat-screen TVs.

Further, Norwegian Dawn’s public spaces, elevators and restrooms were refreshed from top to bottom with new contemporary design, lighting, flooring, wall coverings and sconces.

The ship’s Atrium, too, now has a modern, clean look with plush carpet and new lighting, chic furniture and a new lounge seating area, as well as enhancements to the guest services desks. Tides, a new shopping venue offering a wide selection of fine jewelry, was added to the Atrium. The existing shopping venue, Ports O’Call, was renamed Tradewinds and updated with new finishes, lighting and flooring, along with the Library.

An upgraded Photo Gallery provides new individual digital monitors and larger photo display panels, along with sleek furniture and tile flooring.

The pool deck was completely refurbished to create a brighter and livelier atmosphere with new decking and white awnings to give a yacht-like feel. Additionally, the main pool deck received new exterior showers, upgraded pool loungers and a fresh look in all exterior corridors. The Bimini Bar overlooking the main pool deck was refurbished.

The Entourage teen space and video arcade gained built-in entertainment areas, new carpeting and wall finishes and new modern furniture.

Entertainment venues such as the Dawn Casino and Stardust Theater were also renovated, with the casino adding a VIP area. Norwegian Daw's headline shows, 'Band on the Run,' 'Showdown' and 'Elements,' will be staged in a refreshed Stardust Theater with reupholstered and re-cushioned seating, new carpets and drapery.

The Mandara Spa and Pulse Fitness Center were redesigned, too. The fitness center now offers the latest Techno Gym equipment, while the spa got refreshed, sleek décor, updated treatment rooms and newly added spaces including a barber shop, nail salon, spa pool and eight heated loungers in the thermal suite.

Norwegian Dawn will sail from Boston to Bermuda weekly through October. During the winter, the ship will cruise from New Orleans to the Western Caribbean with ports including the new Norwegian destination, Harvest Caye, Belize.
