Norwegian Cruise Line is notifying passengers and travel agents that Miami-based Norwegian Getaway's eastern Caribbean itinerary will be replaced by a western route from mid-April through September.

Thirteen weeklong sailings are impacted, starting with the April 15 cruise through the Sept. 30 departure.

'While rebuilding efforts from the 2017 hurricane season are in full swing in the eastern Caribbean, we continue to evaluate our itineraries to ensure we provide our guests the best possible cruise vacation. Based on recent evaluation of ports of call in the region, it is necessary to adjust the current seven-day eastern Caribbean itinerary to offer the vacation experiences we seek to provide,' Norwegian stated in a letter.

Instead of calling at St. Thomas, Tortola and Nassau, Norwegian Getaway will be going to Costa Maya, Harvest Caye, Roatán and Cozumel.

The letter points out the western route offers one more port and features the line's new Belize destination, Harvest Caye. Plus, the company added an on-board credit for those impacted by the change. Passengers currently booked in an inside, ocean-view, balcony or mini-suite category will get a $25 per stateroom credit, while those booked in The Haven or a suite will get $50 per stateroom.

The affected sailing dates are April 15, April 29, May 13, May 27, June 10, June 24, July 8, July 22, Aug. 5, Aug. 19, Sept. 2, Sept. 16 and Sept. 30.
