Photos and memories can be shared on a dedicated site that will feature a dynamic timeline
2016 marks 50 years since Sunward made its first voyage from Miami to the Caribbean on Dec. 19, 1966, signifying the birth of Norwegian Caribbean Lines.

Today, the company now known as Norwegian Cruise Line is a leading global cruise brand with 14 ships sailing to more than 300 destinations.

To celebrate Norwegian's golden milestone, the line is inviting passengers, travel professionals, partners and team members to share memories made through the #NorwegiansFirst50 Anniversary Campaign.

'We are celebrating 50 years of incredible moments aboard our ships and it’s the people—our guests, travel partners, team and crew members—who make our history so special.  We wouldn’t be here today without their loyalty and dedication,' NCL president and ceo Andy Stuart said.

Everyone who has sailed with Norwegian, commemorated a special occasion or made other memories on board is invited to share their favorite moments and celebrate along with NCL.

Contributions can be uploaded to NorwegiansFirst50.com, which showcases a dynamic timeline of photos and stories. Fans who upload memorable moments to the site, which will serve as a living, growing tribute, are encouraged to share their memories with friends on their social networks, with the chance of winning a free cruise as a reward for joining in the celebration (in participating markets).

Those who wish to sail during Norwegian’s official 50th anniversary in December can reserve their stateroom now, with eight-day cruises departing on Dec. 18 from New York to Florida and the Bahamas on Norwegian Breakaway, from Miami to the Western Caribbean on Norwegian Getaway and from Tampa to the Western Caribbean on Norwegian Jade.

On Dec. 19, cruisers can set sail from the Big Apple on Norwegian Gem to the Eastern Caribbean on a 10-day holiday cruise and from Miami on Norwegian Pearl, for a 10-day Panama Canal adventure.

These anniversary cruises also offer a special holiday bonus of $100 in on-board credit. The offer is combinable with Norwegian’s 'Free At Sea' promotion.
