Oceania and Regent go under NCL Holdings’ Asia Pacific umbrella

Oceania and Regent go under NCL Holdings’ Asia Pacific umbrella
Following the transition of Star Cruises Australia to Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ new regional headquarters in Sydney in December, the company has announced that Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises will also go under its corporate umbrella.

NCLH svp and md Asia Pacific Steve Odell said the integration includes all sales and marketing functions.

‘Staff recruitment and training is underway and the necessary technology implemented to ensure a smooth and seamless transition from our excellent long-term partners Wiltrans and The Cruise Office in Australia and Cruise Holidays in New Zealand,’ Odell said.

‘We would like to take this opportunity to recognise the long-term partnerships we have enjoyed with our GSAs who have firmly established our luxuy brands as market leaders in Australia and New Zealand.

‘With a burgeoning demand for luxury cruising in the region we will be investing additional resources to ensure that we remain in the market leading position.’

Odell, who officially opened NCLH’s dedicated office on October 1 as svp and md Australia and New Zealand and was promoted to svp and md Asia Pacific less than two months later, said exciting times are ahead with the introduction of Oceania’s Sirena in April to be followed by the launch of Regent's Seven Seas Explorer.

He described Seven Seas Explorer as ‘the most luxurious ship ever built’ and said it is already attracting a high level of local cruise travellers.

When Harry Sommer, NCLH’s evp international business development made his first trip to Australia at the end of September to meet Odell’s senior staff, he told Seatrade Cruise News Diane Patrick of Wiltrans International remained as GSA for Regent Seven Seas Cruises and that David Bunn’s Cruise Office continued to represent Oceania Cruises.

‘Our new office in Australia is to provide additional support,’ Sommer said at the time.
