As the countdown begins to next April's delivery of 596-guest Silver Muse, Silversea held a one-year-to-go reception for UK media last night in London's Estorik Collection, a gallery devoted to modern Italian art.

Commemorative events will also take place onboard all eight of our ships around the world said Lisa McAuley, commercial director for Silversea UK and Ireland.

Guests will be invited to a celebratory dinner showcasing culinary specialties that will feature in Silver Muse's eight restaurants ranging from a seafood and grill to Asian fusion and Japanese to International, French and Italian. Hot Rocks allows guests to cook their food directly at their table on lava stone grills or visit the pizzeria on the top deck.

Silver Muse, under construction at Fincantieri, will visit 52 UNESCO World Heritage Sites during 2017 itineraries from Greek temples to Caribbean fortresses.

Launching from Monte Carlo, Silver Muse will spend the European Spring and summer around the Mediterranean before undertaking a transatlantic crossing including stops in Quebec and New York.

The vessel passes through the Panama Canal on October 18, 2017 and down to South America.

A dedicated brochure featuring all the itineraries of the inaugural season along with details of the eight restaurants, suites and interior and public spaces has been launched.

'The UK and Ireland  is our strongest European source market and Muse's first few voyages are selling well, 'McAuley told Seatrade Cruise News.

'The new ship is an evolution of Silver Spirit (540 guests and the fleet's laregest vessel) rather than a revolution with more open deck space and more interconnecting suites which we find is appealing for families particularly in the school holiday periods,' she added.

'Whilst we don't actively market Silversea as family-friendly we can have up to 15 children onboard on some sailings where we have co-ordinators arranging impromptu activities around the ship like scavenger hunts and pizza-making in the galley.'

McAuley joined Silversea last June after a 15 year career with Avis Budget looking after UK, Europe and Middle East. 'There is no comparison between car rental and ultra-luxury cruising in one sense, but in all aspects of selling its about undertanding how to distribute your product and develop trade relationships.'
