The organization focuses on developing black executives for C-suites, corporate boards and global enterprises to leverage the full power of diversity and inclusion. Ashford’s term as chair extends through 2018. He served on the board for many years, most recently as vice chairman.
Ashford said the new board seeks to significantly expand ELC's reach and impact.
'As we extend our influence to black leaders globally, we look forward to welcoming new thinking and ideas that will help us increase the representation of men and women of color in leadership roles worldwide,' Ashford said.
He succeeds Rhonda R. Mims, svp and chief public affairs officer of WellCare Health Plans.
The executive committee of ELC's board includes Donna Wilson of Johnson & Johnson, vice chair; Jeffrey Webster of Exxon Mobil Corp., secretary; and Gregory Deavens of MassMutual Financial Group, treasurer. ELC directors include Carnival Corp. & plc's Julia Brown.
Arnold Donald served as ELC president and ceo prior to being appointed president and ceo of Carnival Corp. & plc.
