Ovation of the Seas is the biggest cruise ship to visit the Philippines

Currently the biggest cruise ship sailing in Asia, Royal Caribbean International’s Ovation of the Seas, arrived at Subic Bay for the first time on Friday.

She then made a maiden call to Manila the following day on a 5 night cruise from Hong Kong.The 168,666gt ship is the largest cruise vessel to call at any Filipino port.

In Subic Bay and Manila, Ovation of the Seas’ Captain Flemming Nielsen was greeted by local officials for traditional plaque exchanges.

During the Subic Bay stopover, shorex offered included visits to the antique and replicated mansions from the Spanish colonial-era during the Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar Heritage Tour, a soak in the steamy Puning Hot Spring and marine park, Ocean Adventure.

In Manila, shorex included Tagaytay tour for views of Taal Lake and volcano, a visit to a pineapple plantation and a Manila city tour including the historic Basilica Manila Cathedral, San Agustin Church featuring antique vestments and colonial-era furniture and the 'Walled City' consists of fortified walls, church ruins and relics from Spain’s Conquistadores.

Ovation of the Seas went to China for its 2016 debut, where it was named in Tianjin, and since then has sailed seasonally in China, Southeast Asia and Australia. It became the biggest cruise ship to visit Australia on its arrival to Fremantle in December last year. It redeploys to Alaska in 2019.
