Former Fincantieri chairman Corrado Antonini, shipyard owner Bernard Meyer, Costa ceo Michael Thamm, his predecessor Pier-Luigi Foschi and CLIA Europe's secretary-general Raphael von Heereman, as well as more than 200 friends, partners and colleagues, gathered in Oldenburg Castle Saturday to bid a special farewell to Jochen Deerberg at the 30th Deerberg Traditional Christmas Party.

At the end of 2015, Deerberg passes the key to the next generation as the company he founded, Deerberg-Systems, was acquired earlier this year by Finland-based Evac Group. This global company, with offices in over 40 countries, designs, manufactures and markets environmentally-friendly water, waste and wastewater collection and treatment systems for the shipbuilding, offshore and construction industries.

'A cruise ship will be operating for 30 to 40 years and must be totally flexible in handling the waste management process on board. Let’s therefore always stay curious with the view ahead,' Deerberg remarked to the next generation.

He is planning to spend more time with his family and pursuing his hobbies, including regular visits to his Miami apartment as 'I want to be close to the industry I was so deeply involved with.'

Currently 200 large passenger vessels, 78 navy vessels, 28 super-yachts, seven research ships and more than 650 merchant ships are equipped with Deerberg Waste Management Systems and components.
