Jay Lewis - will help spearhead projects related to passenger shipping, cruise ports and tourism infrastructure
Miami's Passenger & Shipping Institute, led by Jay Lewis, has joined the International Infrastructure & Transportation Group LLC (Infratrans) to help spearhead the firm's expansion into passenger shipping and cruise ports.

Lewis was appointed managing director of Infratrans. He is executive director of the Passenger & Shipping Institute and founder and president of MarketScope, Inc., with decades of experience in marketing research, strategic planning, marketing and economic feasibility studies, and consumer/user product research and satisfaction analysis.

Infratrans is an independent, private investment and consulting firm specializing in capital placement for infrastructure and transportation assets. It works with businesses, communities and governments, including public-private partnerships, around the world.

Lewis said Infratrans offers capital for port development and expansion, marrying capital availability with a determination of feasibility in terms of return on investment.

'Everything is done in one place—the funding and the feasibility study,' Lewis said. Marrying economic and marketing feasibility experts to the money 'closes the loop.'

The bulk of Infratrans' ocean-oriented work is in cargo, oil/gas, ports and harbors. The firm is also involved in land-based transport and fisheries.

Lewis will be instrumental in projects concerning cruise lines, ports and harbors, and other tourism infrastructure. He will work closely with Infratrans' Jan Berg-Andreassen, chief economist and cfo, who has 35 years of experience in the study and planning of ports and maritime facilities.

The two have previously collaborated on such projects as the Port of Cartagena, Spain.

Infratrans ceo is Anthony Scott, a port specialist with more than 40 years of experience in management, design, planning, construction and maintenance of marine facilities and equipment. Other international team members include economists, engineers, government and corporate affairs experts, and consultants and advisers in specialized areas.

Lewis will represent the Passenger & Shipping Institute/Infratrans at Cruise Shipping Miami in March.
