Piraeus I floating dock back in action
Piraeus Port Authority(PPA) announced completion of the extensive repair of its largest floating dock Piraeus I, located in Perama.

With carrying capacity up to 40,000 tons, 202mtr long, 31mtr inner breadth and lifting capacity of 15,000 tons, it is the largest of four repair docks at the Greek hub port.

Piraeus II floating dock can accommodate ships with carrying capacity up to 7,000 tons, is 113mtr long, 18.5mtr inner breadth and lifting capacity of 4,000 tons.

In addition, there are two dry docks (150mtr and 90mtr long) at  Akti Vasiliadi.

All four docks have been certified by Hellenic Register of Shipping.

In addition, a new floating dock is expected to begin operations in November for ships with carrying capacity of 80,000 tons, length of 240mtr, inner breadth of 35mtr, lifting capacity of 22,000 tons and cranes.

The new floating dock supplements the existing infrastructure, aiming to attract more ships to Piraeus' Perama Ship Repair Zone from the wider Mediterranean region, notes PPA.
