Cuba trips will operate on the 64-passenger Le Ponant
Ponant is extending its yacht-style cruises to offer Americans the opportunity to explore Cuba. Three people-to-people cultural exchange programs have been announced for 2017 on the 64-passenger sailing yacht Le Ponant.

'Ponant has been introducing Europeans to Cuba in the past and we are now delighted to offer Americans this enriching opportunity from a most comfortable setting aboard a cruise on Le Ponant,' said Navin Sawhney, Ponant's ceo for the Americas.

A Ponant spokeswman told Seatrade Cruise News the line has approvals from Cuban authorities to operate the program.

Ponant said immersive itineraries of seven and eight nights will facilitate an exploration of the island's complex history and culture in a highly-experiential manner. In the company of local experts, passengers will be able to have meaningful encounters with Cuban citizens, artists, professionals and civic leaders, the line added.

Further details are to come.
