Le Lapérouse will be perfectly positioned when she departs Sydney on Boxing Day, December 26, 2019, for passengers to watch the maxi yachts battle it out for the honour of clearing Sydney Heads first.
The French-flagged ship, which entered service in July this year and has 92 all-balcony staterooms, will follow the fleet out of Sydney Harbour.
She will call at Flinders Island, off mainland Tasmania’s north east coast, on December 28 and Wineglass Bay in Freycinet National Park on December 29, before arriving at Hobart’s Constitution Dock on December 30.
Three nights in Hobart over New Year
She will spend three nights here as a ‘floating hotel’ for reunions with the racing yacht fleet, the presentations and the New Year 2020 fireworks on December 31.
‘This really is a special way to mark the 75th anniversary of the Rolex Sydney Hobart yacht race,’ Ponant vp Asia Pacific Monique Ponfoort said.
Passengers will disembark on January 2, 2020 when Le Lapérouse will set sail on a 14-day ‘Sub Antarctic Islands Expedition,’ finishing in Dunedin.
On January 15, 2020, Le Lapérouse then sails on a nine-night ‘Best of New Zealand’ voyage to Auckland, cruising Doubtful and Milford Sounds and calling at Picton, Wellington, Napier, White Island and Tauranga.
