Ponant’s first programme around Australia’s Kimberley coast

Ponant’s first programme around Australia’s Kimberley coast
French luxury expedition cruise company, Ponant, has launched its first programme around Australia’s Kimberley coast between July and September 2017 for domestic and international passengers.

The company will operate 10-night voyages between Darwin and Broome and a round voyage from Darwin with mega-yacht L’Austral.

L’Austral will depart Darwin for Broome on ‘Iconic Kimberley’ voyages on July 3, July 23 and August 12, 2017. She will depart Darwin for the ‘Jewels of the Kimberley’ round voyage on September 1, 2017.

Around two-thirds the size of France, the Kimberley is one of the cruising world’s last unspoiled regions. Highlights of Ponant’s itineraries  include visits to rock caves with ancient Aboriginal drawings and rivers teeming with saltwater crocodiles.

Award-winning photographer and adventurer Mick Fogg, Ponant’s manager marine and operations planning Asia Pacific, will lead an expedition team of marine biologists, naturalists and conservationists.

Fogg, a veteran of 120 Kimberley expeditions, is a former expedition leader for Orion Expedition Cruises and Silversea.

He said these journeys are ‘the very essence of Australia’ and are as captivating as Uluru, or Ayers Rock.
