In an effort to engage the community, the Port of Galveston is inviting the public to meet and mingle with port staff and several port businesses at a Friday open house.

The event will take place in Cruise Terminal 2, which was expanded by 60,000 square feet in June 2016.

The public will be able to tour the facility and learn about cruise operations. Port staff will give tours of the cruise terminal and answer questions.

Cruise Terminal 2 serves Royal Caribbean’s Liberty of the Seas and Carnival Valor. Since the facility's expansion, 565,302 passengers have embarked and disembarked there.

At the open house, several port tenants will have exhibits showcasing their businesses and operations. Visitors will be able to meet maritime professionals and learn about the wide variety of cargo moving across the Port of Galveston’s wharves.

The event will be held from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Cruise Terminal 2 at 2702 Harborside Drive. Parking is free. RSVP is not mandatory but encouraged to [email protected] or facebook.com/theportofgalveston.
