Port of Seattle hires a tourism director with Alaska, cruise experience
The Port of Seattle appointed Ron Peck as its new tourism director, responsible for finding innovative ways of increasing the number of visitors to the region.

With more than 35 years in tourism, including work in Alaska and at Princess Cruises, Peck has been executive cirector of Visit Walla Walla for the past three years. He served as president and chief operating officer of the Alaska Travel Industry Association for more than 10 years, where he was responsible for a statewide tourism marketing budget that reached $16m. His career includes a stint with Alaska Airlines.

Dave McFadden, economic development director at the Port of Seattle, welcomed Peck's appointment.

'With the fastest growing airport in the nation, and our biggest cruise season ahead of us, we are looking forward to having his ideas and energy to make Seattle, and our region, a top tourist destination worldwide,' McFadden said.

Peck starts at the port on April 18.
