The visit kicks off the busiest day ever at the Port of Tyne’s International Passenger Terminal with four cruise ships and a ferry in one day scheduled for tomorrow.
AIDAvita is staying overnight and sails at 8am Tuesday morning before four ships crusie into Port of Tyne: Holland America Line’s Koningsdam, Seven Seas Crusies' Seven Seas Voyager, Cruise and Maritime Voyages' Astor and the DFDS ferry, King Seaways.
Sven Richards, Port of Tyne operations manager vessels, said: “It will be a busy day but we have been planning this for some time and have brought in additional staff resources to ensure a smooth operation.”
Koningsdam at 297.2mtr long will be the biggest cruise ship to visit.
43 cruise ships are expected to call at the Port of Tyne in 2016 up from 29 in 2015.
