Pride of America skipped Hilo and Kona to stay clear of Lane
Norwegian Cruise Line modified Pride of America's current itinerary to stay clear of Lane, a major hurricane that is forecast to track dangerously close to the Hawaiian Islands from Thursday through Saturday, according to the Central Pacific Hurricane Center.

Category 4

Lane is a Category 4 hurricane, with maximum sustained winds near 150 mph/240 km/h, with higher gusts. On Wednesday at 11 a.m. the Coast Guard set port condition Zulu (winds above 39 mph expected within 12 hours) for the Hawaii County port and condition Yankee (winds above 39 mph expected within 24 hours) for Oahu, Maui, Lanai, Molokai and Kauai.

After skipping Hilo and Kona, Pride of America was to depart from Nawiliwili, Kauai, Wednesday at 6 p.m. and will spend the next two days at sea away from the storm before returning to Honolulu early Saturday morning, as scheduled.

Aug. 25 cruise currently on schedule

At this time there are no changes to the cruise due to depart Honolulu the evening of Aug. 25, a spokesperson for Norwegian said.
