Thirty excursions will be offered, from scone-making in Ireland's countryside to crafting the perfect paella in Spain
Princess Cruises is collaborating with food lifestyle brand Bon Appétit on a new culinary shore excursion program.

Pasengers can gain a deeper understanding of the destinations visited through small group culinary experiences drawing from the life of locals. The excursions will immerse them in local ingredients and cooking styles, as well as demonstrations and tastings with local chefs and personalities.

'From scone-making in the countryside of Ireland to crafting the perfect paella on the knotted streets of medieval Spain, these newly developed experiences are sure to bring the spirit of these destinations to life for our guests,' said Bruce Krumrine, VP global shore excursions, Princess Cruises.

'There is a clear connection between the love of travel and experiencing food found in cultures around the world,' said Adam Rapoport, editor in chief of Bon Appétit. 'Collaborating with a destination leader like Princess Cruises, we're able to bring the passion of culinary-inspired journeys to guests we might not otherwise reach.'

Thirty excursions will be offered, beginning in 2018.

One 'Bon Appétit Exclusive Tour,' 'Taste of the North' in Kristiansand, Norway, shows how classic Norwegian flavors are made modern by the head chef at Hotel Norge. Participants can savor Norway's history with moose steak, traditional cookies and regional wine. In Dublin, 'Scones from Scratch' will take participants into the countryside for a cozy afternoon of scone-making with (subject to availability) Catherine Fulivio, the acclaimed chef and proprietor of Ballyknocken Cookery School, House and Restaurant.

A 'Bon Appétit Recommended Tour' of 'Classic Copenhagen' will head to Ferry Café for smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches), then sightseeing to Danish palaces and castles, on a canal boat and ending with a visit to Tivoli Gardens.

Other 'Bon Appétit Recommended Tours' include 'Pacific Northwest Pairings' in Astoria, Oregon, where participants visit chef Chris Holen at his restaurant Baked Alaska to learn how to made seafood dishes more creative while sipping local wines. And 'From Mate to Malbec' in Buenos Aires travelers learn the tradition of empanada-making and taste classic dishes like grilled provoleta cheese, sliced chorizo and steak accompanied by a glass of local Malbec wine.
