The treehouse was built during an episode of Animal Planet’s 'Treehouse Masters' that premiered during the fall season finale. The project was related to the line’s partnership with Discovery Communications.
'At destinations around the globe, we strive to create a bond between our guests and the places we visit, and now more than ever people are visiting Alaska to experience the beauty and adventure the state has to offer,' Princess VP Lisa Syme said.
The 500-square-foot treehouse provides a view of the south face of Denali and is powered by solar panels.
Travelers who book a Princess cruise-tour will be able to experience programming like tales from the Sourdough Expedition, hosted by author, world record holder and amputee mountain climber Todd Huston. This chronicles the first successful ascent of Denali. Participants will meet Huston before making their trek to the treehouse, where they'll be served cocoa and doughnuts. The 45-minute experience carries a nominal charge.
'Sappy Hour,' meanwhile, gives tastings of birch syrups and other tree-inspired products from Alaska's boreal forest. It will run daily at the treehouse for a nominal charge. And daily trivia at the treehouse, free for lodge guests, tests their knowledge of The Great Land and is hosted by the lodge's resident naturalist.
