A new Princess Cruises initiative features experts from key regional cruise associations to provide passengers with insights into meaningful, authentic and exclusive experiences ashore. 'Global Partners + Local Experts' will launch this summer and entails partnerships with Cruise Europe, Cruise Baltic and MedCruise, and such local experts as Andrew Hemphill (Glasgow), Giovanni Spadoni (Livorno) and Kim and Jan Long (Helsinki).

'Global Partners + Local Experts' will provide exclusive destination content and shore experiences. Among the experts are partners from ports, tourism boards, tour operators and port agents.

A special feature of the program is filming the individual partners sharing their thoughts, experiences and recommendations about the places they call home. The footage will be used in a number of ways including before the cruise on direct e-mails as well as on board for port enhancement presentations.

An example of footage used in pre-cruise direct e-mails features Andrew Hemphill, port director for Greenock (Glasgow). Part of the Cruise Europe team and a lifelong Glaswegian, Hemphill describes his favorite place, Glasgow Cathedral.

Kim and Jan Long, tour operators in Helsinki and members of Cruise Baltic, are brothers, and now lead their multi-generational family-owned tour company with more than 20 years of experience.

For Livorno, Princess looked to Giovanni Spadoni, the port's commercial cirector and a MedCruise member who is one of the line's Tuscany experts. In Spadoni's spot, he describes how Livorno is the gateway to places like Pisa, Lucca and Florence.

The program will include a number of other destination-based elements such as local speakers, exclusive passenger experiences in port, new tour programs and tours, partner port guides and walking maps, new port welcome and departure experiences, and an insider’s guide including 'cool things' made in each port.

'Our research has revealed that our guests want to authentically connect with the destination, people and culture,' said Princess president Jan Swartz. She added that while Princess has always been a destination leader, the initiative is a 'powerful new way to showcase our expertise by enhancing the guest experience in each port both before and during the cruise.'

Cruise Baltic is the partner for Regal Princess Scandinavia/Russia cruises, Cruise Europe is the partner for Caribbean Princess British Isles cruises and MedCruise is the partner for Royal Princess Mediterranean sailings.

All three programs will debut during the 2016 summer season.
