Princess to retail Leica cameras for Asian cruise market

Princess to retail Leica cameras for Asian cruise market
Princess Cruises announced it will introduce Leica cameras for the Asian cruise market aboard Sapphire Princess and Diamond Princess from August this year.

This will be the first premium camera brand carried by Princess Cruises, and the product will be offered at fully-dedicated Leica boutiques within the photo galleries on-board.

Leica Camera AG has a strong presence in Asia especially in Japan and China, and is popular among consumers in the region.

The Leica cameras will retail from US$699 to US$1,795 on-board Sapphire Princess and Diamond Princess.

‘Leica is an internationally-recognized and high-quality brand in the industry, and one that our Japanese and Chinese guests aspire to own. We are honoured to bring the cameras on-board our Asian sailings for our guests to capture moments of discovery, inspiration and exchange,’ said Anthony Kaufman, Princess Cruises’ svp of Asia operations.

Both Sapphire Princess and Diamond Princess are currently deployed for their second season to serve the Asian cruise market in 2015. From November 2015 to March 2016, Sapphire Princess will homeport in Singapore for an extended Southeast Asia season, and Diamond Princess will be based in Japan for a third round of sailings. In November 2016, Diamond Princess will also begin her inaugural season of Singapore-based itineraries.
