Spanish and Portuguese travel agents get a taste of Arabia
Pullmantur Cruises took almost 100 travel agents from Spain and Portugal on a fam trip to discover Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where the Spanish cruise line will debut this coming winter.

The two cities are key destinations on Horizon’s Dubai and Legends of Arabia itinerary that starts on December 8, 2018 and ends of March 3, 2019.

The fam programme included visits to the Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab in Dubai, as well as the Dubai Mall, Atlantis the Palm, and the Spice Souk, among others. Participants also had the opportunity to go on a 4x4 desert safari and barbecue.

In Abu Dhabi, the agents visited the Grand Mosque, Ferrari World and Yas Marina circuit, as well as the Emirates Palace and Etihad Tower.

Referring to the winter season in the Middle East, Richard J Vogel, ceo and president of Pullmantur Cruises said, ‘this represents a significant milestone for the Spanish market since it is the first time a cruise company offers Spanish passengers a product tailored entirely to them in this part of the world.’

Vogel also points out that, ‘it is very important for us that travel agents –our main business partners and prescribers for our products– have extensive knowledge of our proposal, both on board and at the destinations.’

Onboard product workshop for agents

As part of its on-going training programme, Pullmantur also organized the second edition of its Mastercruise fam for 166 travel agents on board Sovereign as it sailed around the Mediterranean.

Apart from shore excursions on the route, a range of workshops and activities were organized around Trotanautas, the new entertainment offer for children, and gastronomy.

Working breakfasts around Spain

The cruise line is also holding ‘working breakfasts’ for agents throughout Spain, in order to spread product news.

With the participation of between 25 and 40 travel agents per session, these have already been held in Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga, Seville, Valencia, Vigo and Saragossa.
