Pullmantur Cruises closed 2017 with a 34% Y-o-Y increase in the number of Spanish passengers carried.

Cruise line president and ceo Richard J. Vogel called it 'a spectacular result' boosted by,  'a significant increase in our offer in Spain' with three of the company's four ships based in Spain during the high season compared to two in the previous year.

'This allowed us to offer itineraries that are in great demand, such as the Greek Islands and Venice,' he added.

He also pointed to the fact that for the first time ever Pullmantur had a ship operating year-round from a Spanish port sailing in the Canary Islands.

In total, Pullmantur Cruises made 161 stopovers in Spanish ports, of which about 70% were transits.

At the end of November 2017, Sovereign left Navantia yard in Cadiz after undergoing a three week revitalisation spending Euros20m.

Currently sailing in Brazil, Sovereign will arrive in Barcelona on March 26 from where it will sail every Monday until November 19, 2018.

Facing the new season Vogel said, 'our main objective is to consolidate the volume of passengers reached in 2017 and numbers are expected to be on a par.'

New in 2018, is the launch of Pullmantur Cruises Exclusive Destinations programme providing full immersion through excursions, on board activities and culinary offering based on the itinerary and including the Arctic Circle, corners of the Med, and Legends of Arabia, out of Dubai.
