According to the Qingdao Cruise Tourism Development Support Policy, Qingdao will offer diversified incentives for both turnarounds and transit calls.
The details for cruise lines or charter travel agencies are: RMB100,000 per round trip voyage to cruise ships of 40,000gt or below; RMB200,000 for ships between 40,000 and 70,000gt; RMB300,000 for ships between 70,000 and 100,000gt; and RMB400,000 per voyage to cruise ships of 100,000gt or above.
Rewards for transit calls too
There is also a reward for ships visiting Qingdao on a transit call.
The funding awards for cruise lines and travel agency charterers will be apportioned 70% and 30% respectively and they cover: RMB500,000 per call for 800 plus cruise guests taking shore excursions; RMB400,000 per voyage for 600-800 visitors taking shore excursions; RMB300,000 per voyage for 400-600 visitors partaking in shore excursions; RMB200,000 per voyage for 200-400 visitors taking shore excursions; and RMB100,000 per voyage for 100-200 visitors participating in shore excursions.
In addition, to encourage more frequent cruise ship visits to Qingdao, the city will provide another RMB500,000 subsidy to each line making ten calls annually, and RMB3m to any company calling 50 times annually.
Qingdao currently has three cruise berths and is able to accommodate ships of up to 220,000gt.
Star Cruises deployed two ships to Qingdao this year.
