There were 30 calls, a 15% increase from 2015, with a total of 20,674 passengers, an 18% spike.
The total number of visitors to set foot ashore was 17,808, or 86% of all passengers. Shore excursion sales versus maximum sales capacity was 89%, or 8,007 passengers.
The amount of time the ships stayed in port grew, too, averaging 9.2 hours, up from 8.5 hours.
'Altogether, the numbers are very positive,' said Stéphane Sainte-Croix, executive director, Escale Gaspésie.
Besides Queen Mary 2, maiden calls included Hapag-Lloyd Cruises' Europa 2, Regent Seven Seas Cruises' Seven Seas Mariner, Crystal Cruises' Crystal Serenity and Oceania Cruises' Regatta.
Tourism dollars directly attributable to the cruise business were estimated at more than $2m.
Escale Gaspésie is a nonprofit corporation that brings together the towns of Gaspé, Percé and Chandler. Its mission is the development, promotion and operation of a port of call for international cruises on the Gaspé Peninsula within the Canada/New England circuit.
