Queenslanders to get sneak preview of Legend of the Seas
Royal Caribbean International’s 2,000-passenger Legend of the Seas will visit Queensland next month, calling at Brisbane (June 13), Airlie Beach (June 15) and Cairns (June 16) on a repositioning voyage to Singapore.

The 70,000gt ship wil return in December to operate a maiden five-month season in Brisbane.

It will be one of the largest superliners able to navigate the Brisbane River and dock at Brisbane Cruise Terminal at Portside Wharf.

‘We are very excited for the maiden calls of Legend of the Seas in Queensland in June and even more excited to be kicking off our first ever season based in Queensland from December,’ Royal Caribbean International’s commercial director Australia and South East Asia, Sean Treacy, said.

‘The appetite for cruising in Queensland has grown significantly over the years and we are thrilled to offer an international style of cruising with world class amenities and features on Queensland’s doorstep,’ Treacy said.

He said Legend of the Seas will bring more than A$24m into the Queensland economy in 2015-16, including more than A$20.6m to Brisbane during 17 turnarounds, A$1.5m to Cairns and A$1.5m to Airlie Beach during her five calls.

During her five-month season, Legend of the Seas will embark on 15 itineraries in Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific, ranging from two- to 18-nights before repositioning back to Asia in April 2016.
