Vela is one of Island Windjammers' tall ships
QuirkyCruise.com, the site for small ship aficionados, is going to award one reader a chance to live the life of a travel writer during a six-day cruise in the Caribbean.

Aboard Island Windjammers

QuirkyCruise.com is giving away a cruise for two aboard Island Windjammers. This fleet of three classic sailing ships offers a casual, wind-in-your-hair, island-hopping jaunt on vessels carrying from 10 to 26 passengers. Six-night cruises sail to the Caribbean’s less touristy islands—from Bequia to Iles des Saintes, Marie Galante, Carriacou, Mayreau, Jost Van Dyke and Nevis—with departures from St. Lucia, Grenada, Tortola and St. Kitts. The voyage is valued at up to $6,200.

Entries for the cruise giveaway must be submitted by Dec. 31 and require only name, email address and a very short statement addressing 'I want to win a small ship cruise because ...' The winner will be chosen at random and notified by Jan. 15.

84 small ship cruise lines and counting

QuirkyCruise.com co-founders Heidi Sarna and Ted Scull have 50 years of combined experience as travel writers. Their site focuses on ships carrying under 300 passengers, especially the 'quirky' ones that are anything but mainstream. Currently covered are 84 small ship cruise lines 'and counting'—spanning river, ocean-going, coastal, expedition and sailing.

'I’ve been very fortunate to pursue a career that affords me the opportunity to do two things I love so much—writing and traveling,' Sarna said.

Opportunity to pen a travel story

Although it is not required, Sarna and Scull are giving the free cruise winner the opportunity to work with one of their staff writers to pen an article about their experience and have it posted on QuirkyCruise.com.

'We’re thrilled to share the small ship cruise experience we’re so passionate about with one of our QuirkyCruise.com readers,' Scull said.
