As previously reported, the ship departed Newcastle with much fanfare after a stopover on April 5 on her way to Sydney, only to return shortly after for repairs to its Azipod propulsion system.
Experts from Finland assisting with repairs
A spokesman for Port of Newcastle said Royal Caribbean had requested a place for Radiance and it was able to assist with its Channel Berth. It is understood that experts from Finland have flown out for the repairs.
Newcastle Tourism Industry Group’s Gus Maher said, despite the adverse circumstances, the 800 crew on board will have the opportunity to experience Newcastle in much more depth than on a stopover.
Maher said they will be able to share their experiences with passengers on future cruises to the gateway to the Hunter Valley wine region.
