Refurbished Seven Seas Mariner
The 350-passenger all-balcony-suite Seven Seas Mariner underwent an extensive refurbishment in 2018. Upgrades include new culinary experiences and suite designs, and completely renewed public spaces.
'With unlimited shore excursions, round-trip air, gourmet dining, fine wines and spirits and so much more included, there is no better way to experience Alaska than with Regent Seven Seas Cruises. Thanks to her recent bow-to-stern refurbishment, Seven Seas Mariner is better than new,' Regent president and CEO Jason Montague said.
New excursions, glassblowing to glaciers
New shore excursions for the upcoming season include 'Golden Glassblowing Experience' in Skagway. Participants visit Jewell Gardens to learn about the ancient art of working with molten glass and then create a handmade ornament as an Alaska memento. In the spirit of the Gold Rush, guests have the opportunity to incorporate 24-karat gold in the ornament for dazzling effect. This new tour is ncluded in Regent's free, unlimited shore excursion selection.
'Taku Glacier Adventure By Air, Water & Ice,' from Juneau, takes participants by helicopter high above Juneau, the Tongass National Forest, the Juneau Ice Field, Gastineau Channel and Taku River, all the way to Taku Point. A second helicopter carries them to the top of the Taku Glacier to step out onto the 4,500-foot thick ice. This is an extra-cost 'Regent Choice' tour.
Another new 'Regent Choice' selection is 'Sitka’s Great Hiking Adventure,' past a waterfall and boggy land known as muskeg, eventually arriving at a pristine mountain lake for kayakiing, fishing or simply gathering around a crackling campfire.
