Royal Caribbean hires VP to oversee private destinations operations

Chris Perry joins Royal Caribbean International's hotel operations team led by SVP Mark Tamis
Chris Perry brings more than 20 years of global theme park experience to Royal Caribbean International in a newly created role as VP operations - private destinations.

Perry will oversee hospitality and managerial operations, and provide input on the design and best practices for the line’s private destinations, including Perfect Day at CocoCay. He joins the hotel operations team led by SVP Mark Tamis.

Joins from Icon Global Partners

Perry joins Royal Caribbean from Icon Global Partners Ltd., where he served as CEO for the amusement operational consulting and management firm and was focused on developing and managing amusement facilities in emerging economies. Before Icon, he spent time with Club Med, WhiteWater West Industries Ltd. and 17 years at Dubai-based Jumeirah Group’s Wild Wadi Waterpark, including 11 years at the helm. Under Perry’s leadership, Wild Wadi was the first waterpark to achieve International Standards Organization certification and Green Globe certification.

Perry has been active in the amusement industry, often speaking at global trade shows and holding leadership positions such as director of the Ellis & Associates International Aquatic Safety School, board member of the International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions and global chairman of its Waterpark Committee, and founding member of the Middle East & North Africa Leisure and Attractions Council.

While living in Dubai, Perry hosted Travel Channel’s amusement series 'Epic Attractions.'

He is moving from Bangkok and will be based in Miami.

More Perfect Day experiences to come

Royal Caribbean has said the Perfect Day collection will span five places — spreading to Labadee in the Caribbean and to Asia and Australia; all are expected to be activated over the next five years. Their features will vary depending on the destination and the market.
