New Royal Caribbean manning office foresees hiring significant numbers of Filipino crew
Anticipating significant growth in hiring for Filipino crew members, Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. is opening a new manning office in Manila, Philippines, through a joint venture with Philippine Transmarine Carriers.

The cruise company expects to grow its current level of 11,000 Filipino crew members to as many as 30,000 in the next five years. Filipino crew are represented on each of the company's brands.

The office is set to open in May. Royal Caribbean believes its new approach to finding employees and bringing them into its global fleet may also be replicated in other markets.

The new office, centrally located in the Mall of Asia area in the city of Pasa, will be a change in the company's partnership with PTC, which currently oversees these services.

In addition to a more efficient recruitment and hiring process, Royal Caribbean envisions the future employee experience to be more robust, including training, continuing education and personal and professional development programs for its employees.
