Ships flocked to Saguenay this season, and more calls are expected in 2018
Friday's call by Crown Princess wrapped Saguenay, Québec's international cruise season, which has been an extraordinary one for this thriving St. Lawrence destination.

In the dozen days from Sept. 29 to Oct. 12, 19 ships carrying 23,118 passengers and crew were welcomed. The peak day was Oct. 6, with 6,000 visitors. Records were also set for the average length of stay: 15 hours and 25 minutes, compared to 8.5 hours in 2016.

In addition, as of Oct. 18, more than 4,000 tickets were sold for shuttles offering sightseeing tours, and more than 5,381 visitors attended the English version of the long-running, all-volunteer community production, 'La Fabuleuse.'

Altogether Saguenay handled 55 cruise calls in 2017, and 60 are projected next year.

Queen Mary 2 is scheduled to return in 2018 and, for the first time, Disney Cruise Line will arrive, with Disney Magic set for two visits.
