Some 64 calls are scheduled between May 9 and Oct. 28. Approximately 144,000 passengers will visit, a 20% increase over 2015.
'That is great news for southern New Brunswick and for its many tourism-related businesses,' said Jim Quinn, president and ceo, Port Saint John. Cruise activity via Port Saint John represents a $25m annual boost to New Brunswick's economy.
The inaugural calls include Carnival Sunshine, Rotterdam, Anthem of the Seas, Europa 2, Azamara Quest and Amadea.
Azamara Club Cruises is a new line for Port Saint John. Azamara Quest will dock on Oct. 1.
Blount Small Ship Adventures will return this year, staying dockside for five days. And Disney Cruise Line will be back with Disney Magic on Oct. 4, after a four-year hiatus.
On Oct. 19, 8,900 passengers and 3,500 crew are expected, making the season's busiest cruise day.
