Scanship nails AWP orders for 4 newbuilds in Germany
Scanship said it won contracts to deliver advanced wastewater purification systems for four megaships at a German yard. The first vessel will enter service in 2018 followed by the second and third in 2019 and the fourth in 2020.

Two of the ships are subject to financing with cancellation clauses expiring in August and December this year.

The AWP systems will treat gray water and black water in accordance with MARPOL MEPC 227(64) including Chapter 4.2 with phosphorus and nitrogen removal.

CEO Henrik Badin said the contracts confirm Scanship's market-leading position in the cruise newbuilding space for AWP systems.

'Being the first in the industry with approval certificates Med-B and Med-F according to this new standard has really put us in the front when technology is being selected for these megaships,' Badin stated.

Scanship is based in Lysaker, Norway, with offices in Davie, Florida, and Victoria, BC.
