Scanship won contracts from Fincantieri to supply total clean ship systems for Norwegian Cruise Line's four newbuilds.

The first ship will arrive in 2022, with the others due in 2023, 2024 and 2025.

Norwegian has options with Fincantieri to build two other ships for delivery in 2026 and 2027.

The contracts include delivery of systems for food waste processing, garbage handling, advanced wastewater purification and bio-residue treatment. The advanced wastewater systems will process all black water and gray water from accommodations, laundry, galley and food waste, according to the tough new Baltic Sea standard requiring nutrient removal.

'In our efforts to keep our oceans clean, we are thrilled to work with Fincantieri on this new class of ships for Norwegian Cruise Line. These ships will be meeting highest environmental standards worldwide,' Scanship CEO Henrik Badin said.
