Seabourn Encore - sustained some damage but is fully operational
High winds in the New Zealand port of Timaru on February 12 caused Seabourn Encore to break its moorings and collide with another ship.

Seabourn Encore hit Milburn Carrier II and became stuck between two wharves.

Both ships sustained some damage, but Seabourn Encore, which is fully operational, was cleared to sail to Akaroa later that evening. There were no injuries.

Investigators from New Zealand’s Transport Accident Investigation Commission have flown to Akaroa from Wellington to begin an inquiry.

‘We need to understand the circumstances and causes surrounding this accident so lessons learned can be passed to the transport sector,' lead investigator Capt. Martin Harper said.

Seabourn Encore is on a 16-night cruise that departed Sydney on February 2.
