Seabourn launches kayaking in Antarctica

Seabourn launches kayaking in Antarctica
Seabourn is giving travelers a chance to get closer to Antarctica's natural wonders with its new 'Ventures by Seabourn' kayak excursions.

These launch from the ship's fold-out watersports marina and are led by a highly seasoned member of Seabourn's expedition team. Participants wear specially designed cold climate dry suits.

In addition to Antarctica, the kayak excursions will be offered at South Georgia Island and Port Stanley (Falkland Islands/Islas Malvinas).

Introduced aboard Seabourn Quest last summer, the 'Ventures by Seabourn' excursions are guided by expedition teams of scientists, scholars and naturalists who are part of the vessel's 'Seabourn Conversations' program.

In Antarctica, Seabourn Quest's kayak guide will be Matt J. Dolan, who has kayaked the entire Inside Passage from Seattle to Muir Glacier in Glacier Bay National Park, Alaska. His journey encompassed more than 1,300 miles and is a feat few have accomplished.

Beginning Nov. 29, Seabourn Quest returns to Antarctica for its third season. The ship will operate four 21- to 24-day voyages between Valparaíso, Chile, and Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The 24-day holiday version, departing Dec. 20, includes two days exploring sub-Antarctic South Georgia, renowned for its beauty and its vast rookeries of king penguins and breeding elephant and fur seals.
