SeaDream uncorks eight wine voyages for 2016
SeaDream Yacht Club announced eight wine voyages designed by its new wine director, Ida Dønheim, a seasoned chef and sommelier. Scheduled for the Mediterranean from May to early November, the voyages feature top wineries, tastings of exclusive and rare wines, and food and wine pairings at a Winemakers Dinner where a local grower or winery shares treasures from their cellars.

SeaDream I and SeaDream II will sail along the Mediterranean coastline to ports and harbors in Italy, Spain, Greece and France's renowned wine country. Each wine voyage will offer experiences for beginners and veteran oenophiles with itineraries that have been expertly curated by Dønheim.

Activities include visits to boutique vineyards, casual tastings organized throughout sailings to highlight local producers from regions visited and in-depth tastings that focus on a specific topic, grape or region led by Dønheim, the winemaker or an internationally recognized wine expert.

The Winemakers Dinner will feature top cuvees and select wines offered in earlier tastings, allowing participants to experience a proper food and wine pairing and how the wine changes character when served with food. This dinner will feature a specially crafted menu to complement the wine of the winery joining for the evening.

The 2016 wine voyages start with a week-long Barcelona to Nice itinerary on May 7 aboard SeaDream II. It includes overnights in Monte Carlo and St. Tropez, and visits Sanary-sur-Mer, Sete, Cannes and Roses (Spain).

A six-day Monte Carlo to Civitavecchia (Rome) wine voyage departing May 18 aboard SeaDream II visits St. Tropez, Portofino, Portovenere for Cinque Terre, Marina di Carrara for Florence and Lucca, and Porto Ercole.

The other wine voyages include sailings between Cannes and Civitavecchia, Civitavecchia and Piraeus (Athens) or Nice, round-trip Nice and Cannes to Málaga.
