Seatrade Cruise Awards 2016 winners named in Tenerife

Port of the Year went to ABP Southampton, and Destination of the Year is Singapore. Supplier of the Year is B&A Europe (Bermello Ajamil & Partners Europe), the Environmental Initiative Award went to Old City Harbour Tallinn for its Micro-Tunnel Construction, and the Innovative Shorex Award to Hidden City Tours/Intercruises for their 'Barcelona Walking Tour Guided by the Homeless.'

The Seatrade Cruise Awards 2016, principal sponsor Oracle Hospitality, were presented at the Seatrade Cruise Med Party in Santa Cruz de Tenerife Thursday night. MedCruise sponsored the Environmental Initiative Award.

More than 100 entries were received from around the world. The winners were selected from three shortlisted finalists in each category by an independent judging panel.

Entries shortlisted for Port of the Year were Kai Tak Cruise Terminal and Ports of Tenerife (Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife), while Cruise Baltic and The Great Lakes Cruise Region were finalists for Destination of the Year.

Supplier of the Year finalists were DNV GL for ECO Insight: Using Big Data For Fleet Performance Management and MJM Group. Environmental Initiative Award finalists were ABB for its Linear Flow Azipod and Carnival Corp. & plc for its 2020 Sustainability Goals.

Finalists for the Innovative Shorex Award were Ambassatours Gray Line's 'Come Fly a Kite at the Alexander Graham Bell Museum' and ID Tours New Zealand's 'Ancient Maori Rock Art, Marae and Family Lunch.'

The awards were announced by Mary Bond, managing director for publishing, Seatrade, and presented by Seatrade gm Andrew Williams and Tony Heuer, vp, Global Cruise, Oracle Hospitality Cruise. MedCruise president Kristijan Pavic presented the Environmental Initiative Award.

Seatrade Cruise Personalities Awards were also announced.
