Queen Mary 2 is going to call at Québec's Sept-Îles on Oct. 2 thanks to an itinerary change due to the Gulf of St. Lawrence speed restriction to protect right whales.

The ocean liner should have gone to Gaspé.

Queen Mary 2 was not scheduled to make its first call at Sept-Îles until September 2018.

The Port of Sept-Îles said the community and all Destination Sept-Îles Nakauinanu partners will be ready to provide a warm welcome to the Cunard liner.

Queen Mary 2 is scheduled to dock from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m on Oct. 2.
