Now sailing from Miami - what Regent touts as 'most luxurious ship ever built'
Following a highly successful inaugural season in the Mediterranean, Seven Seas Explorer arrived at PortMiami Friday morning, making the ship's North American debut.

'We’re excited to bring Seven Seas Explorer to PortMiami and provide guests with an incredible opportunity to experience the most luxurious ship ever built with the convenience of departing from a domestic homeport,' said Jason Montague, president and ceo, Regent Seven Seas Cruises.

The 750-passenger, all-balcony-suite Explorer will operate a Caribbean season of 10 cruises. Those kick off Dec. 4 with a 14-night 'Serene Islands' voyage, followed by a 10-night 'Caribbean Dawn' cruise. Both sail round-trip Miami.

The ship then heads west to ring in the New Year with a 16-night 'Grand Canal Crossing' from Miami to Los Angeles via the Panama Canal, with stops throughout the Caribbean and Central America.

Seven Seas Explorer returns to South Florida on Feb. 4 and will use Miami as its homeport for five 10-night round-trips visiting the Caribbean, Mexico and Belize. Two cruises will call at the new southern Belize destination Harvest Caye, developed by Regent's parent company, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings.

Miami-Dade County Mayor Carlos Giménez said the ship will expand PortMiami’s economic contribution, adding more job opportunities to the local economy.

Regent launched operations at PortMiami in 2012. PortMiami director/ceo Juan Kuryla thanked the line for its 'continued commitment and trust.' Other Regent ships sailing from the port this year include Seven Seas Mariner and Seven Seas Navigator.
