Royal Caribbean International in the UK announced it is boldly going where no cruise company has gone before by offering the world’s first cruise experience to space; with the first voyage of its state-of-the-art spaceship, Orbiter of the Galaxies confirmed for 2030.

However,  a close study of the release with its embargo set for 00:01 April 1, 2016 did not have Seatrade Cruise News fooled.

RCI suggests construction of the extraordinary space and cruise ship hybrid is underway featuring 270° panoramic space views through Two70°’s multi-deck, floor-to-ceiling glass walls and a gravity defying iFly® space walking simulator experience allowing guests to soar through space for the ultimate thrill seeker experience. In addition, Royal Caribbean says it will be adapting its stage shows for Zero G and microgravity conditions, and creating food and drink menus designed to suit space climates.

UK & Ireland md of Royal Caribbean, Stuart Leven is quoted as saying: 'We are always looking for new ways to deliver the extraordinary and what could be more spectacular than cruising through space - just imagine the holiday pictures! Orbiter of the Galaxies will be the jewel in our ground breaking fleet and we can’t wait for take-off.'

Royal Caribbean said it has partnered with the National Space Centre, a UK visitor attraction devoted to space science and astronomy, to develop a cutting edge training programme for staff manning the spaceship on its inaugural voyage and launch location and itineraries will be confirmed in due course.

The UK branch of RCI encourgaes propective space cruisers to join the conversation online #OrbiteroftheGalaxies.

This is clearly not a case of watch this space for more details.
