Patients of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital created the colorful artwork that will go into the massive LED 'Dreamscape' atrium installation on the new Carnival Horizon.

The eye-catching, three-deck-high centerpiece will feature 33 artistic creations from the young patients of St. Jude, one of Carnival Cruise Line's largest charitable partners.

The announcement was made at Carnival's Day of Play, an annual event held for children and their families at St. Jude in Memphis.

Designed by Techno Media, 'Dreamscape' is a 24-foot, funnel-shaped centerpiece comprised of more than 2,000 flexible LED tiles customized for the shipboard environment. Each day, technicians on board program the artwork based on the time of day, port or occasion.

The young artists were tasked with creating fun pieces with bright, bold colors. The original St. Jude creations complement the more than 100 images that continually rotate throughout the day and evening, bringing the atrium to life.

Carnival's partnership with St. Jude began in 2010 and was expanded in 2013 with the cruise line being named the hospital's official celebration partner. Over the past seven years, Carnival has raised more than $13m for St. Jude through a range of activities.

Carnival Horizon is set to debut April 2 with a maiden voyage from Barcelona, the first of four round-trips from that port. The ship will reposition to the US with a trans-Atlantic crossing from Barcelona to New York in May.

Following its summer schedule of four-day Bermuda and eight-day Caribbean departures from New York, Carnival Horizon will shift to Miami for year-round six- and eight-day cruises.
