Opportunities to expand cruise tourism in Saint Petersburg will be presented at Seatrade Med in Barcelona
Saint Petersburg Committee for Tourism Development, a first time participant at Seatrade Med Cruise Convention, taking place in Barcelona, September 16-18, 2014, is making a presentation to highlight opportunities for growing cruise tourism at the Baltic port.

Russia's maritime capital is one of Saint Petersburg’s numerous titles dating back to when Peter the Great planned the city as a future port for trade relations with European countries.

Last year Saint Petersburg welcomed 523,525 cruise passengers last year putting it in top spot as Russia's and the Baltic's leading cruise port-of-call. Most cruise ships use the port's Marine Façade facility, Russia's largest passenger port. Next year, it will also host turnarounds by Princess Cruises for the first time. Regal Princess will sail 11 ten day round-trip Baltic cruises from the Russian city.

In order to expand its cruise business the city administration is making great efforts to develop cruise-friendly operations including waiving visas for passengers coming to the city on cruise ships and ferry. The local administration is predicting five million tourists to will visit Russia via Saint Petersburg port within a few years.

Saint Petersburg Committee for Tourism Development is holding a presentation on cruise tourism opportunities during Seatrade Med 2014, taking place on September 16 at 14:00 in Hall  8 of Fira de Barcelona Gran Via, Travel Agent Training Room, Conference Room 3.
