Star Cruises to deploy two ships in Qingdao this year

Star Cruises celebrated the inaugural sailing of SuperStar Aquarius from her new Qingdao homeport yesterday.

Guests from the Shandong peninsula and neighbouring cities will be able to enjoy cruises to Japan’s Nagasaki, Fukuoka, Sasebo and Beppu in the coming month.

SuperStar Virgo, will also embark on new Qingdao homeport itineraries starting from November, further contributing to the development of the cruise economy in Qingdao.

Ang Moo Lim, president of Star Cruises said, ‘Back in 2002, Star Cruises had the privilege to pioneer Qingdao’s cruise industry development with the deployments of SuperStar Gemini and SuperStar Capricorn to this beautiful port city.

‘As we celebrate the inaugural sailing of 51,000gt SuperStar Aquarius in Qingdao, Star Cruises has officially set a new record number of homeport deployments by the same brand in Qingdao.

‘Star Cruises is the only cruise line to have two cruise ships homeport in Qingdao in the same year,’ he added.

SuperStar Virgo, the flagship of Star Cruises will call Qingdao homeport starting from November, taking guests on 4-night cruises to Kagoshima and Fukuoka and Fukuoka and Nagasaki.
